Job purpose

We are looking for a candidate to join the team at BeFC to plan, design, and develop device packaging for the company’s products.

Staff management responsibility

There is no expectation for the post holder to perform staff managerial duties

Special conditions

From time to time, the post holder may be asked to assist with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.

This will form part of a substantive role and no additional payment for these activities should be expected.

Main duties and responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have strong background in materials/polymer science and process engineering, and previous experience with device packaging.

1) Identify and assess various packaging materials

2) Rapidly develop design concepts

3) Perform testing activities within laboratories

4) Help to inform product architecture in respect to the global packaging needs

5) Incorporate knowledge of customer use and product design to predict effectiveness and anticipate failure modes through root cause analysis

6) Assist in developing bonding / sealing processes based on selected materials

7) Assist in the development of machinery used within packaging processes

8) Integrate quality into all aspects of deliverables

9) Assist in the life cycle analysis of packaging materials utilised

10) Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

11) Keep abreast of appropriate packaging and manufacturing technologies

12) Assists in the preparation of and participation in technical reviews

13) Organising data and preparing appropriate documentation for assigned projects

Specification

Essential Qualifications/ Experience/ Attributes

Graduate with science or engineering background (at least a Master’s degree or equivalent)

Knowledge of materials/polymer science

Problem-solving skills

Strong technical and project management capabilities

Meticulous

Take pride in the quality of their work

Organised and rigorous

Ability to work efficiently, both in a team and autonomously

Impeccable interpersonal communication skills

Objective-oriented

Understanding of English language, both written and oral

Desirable Qualifications/ Experience/ Attributes

Graduate from materials/polymer science, process engineering,or packaging engineering

Familiarity with relevant industrial processes

Experience with engineering tools
