Project Coordinator

Job purpose

Working with various teams, the post will be related to planning and overseeing projects, from initial ideation, through to completion. The candidate will coordinate people and processes to deliver projects on time, within budget, and with the desired outcomes aligned to the objectives.

Source and nature of management provided

The post holder will be line managed by the COO but will work closely with staff across different projects.

Staff management responsibility

A limited supervision of students may be required, however there is no expectation from the post holder to perform staff managerial duties.

Special conditions

Although based in the main BeFC R&D facilities, the job may at times involve working in any of the other BeFC facilities.

From time to time, the post holder may be asked to assist with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities. This will form part of a substantive role and no additional payment for these activities should be expected.

Main duties and responsibilities

Using a high degree of technical expertise, provide support for ongoing projects including:

1) Defining project objectives, scope, roles and responsibilities

2) Defining resource requirements and managing allocation and availability

3) Outlining a budget based on requirements and tracking costs

4) Preparing a detailed project plan to schedule key milestones and workpackages

5) Managing delivery of projects based on scheduled

6) Providing regular reports on project statuses

7) Adjusting for any changes in project scope, schedule and budget

8) Identifying and mitigating potential risks

9) Managing the relationship and communication with clients ensuring project satisfaction

10) Compliance with statutory and company regulations/protocols


Essential Qualifications/Experience/Attributes

Graduate of a scientific / engineering course (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) (Essential)

Graduate of a project management course (Desirable)

Previous experience in project management (Essential)

Familiar with industry-standard project management methodologies (Essential)

Experience with project management software (Desirable)

Understanding of budgeting and accounting processes (Desirable)

Ability to develop relevant documentation (Desirable)
