As the name suggests, at this particular event the keyword is impact. Our Sustainability Coordinator, Alexandre Bloch, represented BeFC at the event and hosted the booth that earned BeFC its selection as one of the competition finalists ! Alexandre was pleased to explain the positive effect that BeFC will have in terms of environmental protection, for the company itself, but also for BEFC customers. The originality of BeFC’s energy source and its ability to work in tandem with bespoke active sensor systems was greatly appreciated at the event.
Impact Festival is the largest B2B meeting bringing together European startups with a vision to scale-up greentech. The objective of the event was to open, continue and promote the debate on the role of innovation and technology in sustainability, and to give a platform to Greentech solutions like BeFC’s that allow businesses to adapt and make more respectful choices for the planet.
This is important for Alexandre (and BeFC!), as the role of a sustainability coordinator necessitates working on many different fronts: not only does he help ensure we produce the most sustainable product possible, but he also works with our teams, our technical production lines and with our different partners to encourage change and follow international environmental standards. It's a holistic approach.
At the Impact festival, Alexandre was able to talk about the measures we take internally to develop the most environmentally-friendly product possible. The various tests that proved the recyclability of our biofuel cell energy source (similar to a battery) creates electricity from organic materials (paper and enzymes), are carried out with his supervision as well as those of independent external bodies. BeFC has successfully demonstrated that even the active digital sensor powered by the biofuel cell does not interfere with the recycling of products. This platform paves the way for a generation of electronic objects and is extremely useful for companies that require significant additional information to improve the monitoring of their products, such as pH, blood pressure, vital signs or temperature.
Alexandre had a lot of interesting encounters at this mainly B2B event - he met and was inspired by several other green technology startups that use green innovation to provide solutions to businesses and had the opportunity to network with their leaders about the different sustainability measures currently available. A large number of business representatives and decision makers were present, and our sustainability coordinator was able to shout-out loud the message that BeFC can help them reduce their environmental impact, position themselves as sustainability pioneers and meet international standards.
At BeFC, we are really happy to see that this will to change the way we live and work and exploit our planet's natural resources. It's good to see this working at industry level too. Companies feel increasingly responsible for the consequences of their actions and want to offer better, higher-quality products to end users. It is this inspiration that motivated our co-founders, who from the onset, have been working tirelessly on the development of a new sustainable energy source. Their mission was to offer an alternative to lithium batteries as well as reduce toxic waste. Alexandre explained how our biofuel fuel cell is the fruit of several decades of research. Thanks to his pitch in front of the Impact Festival jury, in the eyes of a specialised audience of B2B decision makers, innovators and sustainable technology fanatics, BeFC earned its place on the podium as a Finalist of the High Impact Startup Competition!
